Egosystems
('22 - now)

‘Egosystems’: (Abstract) ecosystems that show inner interactions and the interactions I have with my environment.

In our society grows a collective narcissism. If I look at myself, I constantly create systems that echo my ideas - those system become ‘Egosystems’ and it feels problematic. I started using the term once the awareness about myself and how I am stuck in systems came to me through creation. I question, explore and show what values, rules and systems are in place and how these influence myself - around societal themes such as social media, fashion and beauty standards, power hierarchies and sexual orientation.

The first 'Egosystems' are painted, but through other media (with different lenses) I will discover this concept further.

Research to ‘Egosystems’ is currently ongoing. Below a selection of works.

"Egosystem 5" ('23) - consumption economy, power hierarchy

"Egosystem 4" ('23) - tech, nature, human, power hierarchy

Tree: Exploration of rituals, Digital medium in painting ('23)

"Lion" ('23) - stories, media, power hierarchy, consumption economy

"Egosystem 1" ('22) - power hierarchy, fragmentation of the self, consumption economy

"Egosystem 2" ('22-'23) - power hierarchy, fragmentation of the self, consumption economy

"Fragmented Self" ('23) - Triplet through painting, performance and digital creation (Vrijpaleis, Amsterdam)

As our attention is being bombarded with information, from social media, television, or news sources, we cannot control our attention and thereby lose grip on the self. This installation, a triplet of the self through painting, digital art and performance, provides a view on our fragmented self, the echo chambers we create to keep control and also questions whether the digital world is slowly taking over physicality and whether the real self is disappearing.
